One of the most common causes of shoulder pain is rotator cuff inflammation. The rotator cuff involves 4 tendons which control shoulder motion. Unfortunately, a delicate blood supply, poor posture, and repetitive overhead activity can cause rotator cuff inflammation and tearing. The symptoms include pain at night, weakness, and stiffness. The incidence increases with age especially after age 50. Treatments may include physical therapy, anti-inflammatories. If pain continues then typically an MRI or Ultrasound is used to diagnose these issues.
